1. Information We Collect

Switchboard is a business communication platform. We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, use our services, or contact us for support.

Account Information

  • Name, email address, and phone number
  • Business information (company name, address)
  • Login credentials

Communication Data

  • SMS and MMS message content sent and received through Switchboard
  • Phone call logs, including caller/recipient numbers, duration, and timestamps
  • Voicemail recordings and transcriptions
  • Phone numbers provisioned and assigned to your account

Contacts

  • Contact information you create within Switchboard (contact, vendor, and team member records)
  • Device contacts you choose to import — we only access your device address book when you explicitly initiate an import, and only the contacts you select are stored on our servers

Media

  • Photos and videos you capture or select for sharing in conversations
  • Media files received in MMS messages

Device and Usage Data

  • Device type, operating system version, and app version
  • Push notification tokens (used solely to deliver notifications)
  • Crash reports and performance diagnostics
  • General usage patterns to improve our services

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We collect and use your information only for the following purposes:

  • Providing Switchboard's core features: phone calls, text messaging, voicemail, and contact management
  • Delivering push notifications for incoming calls, messages, and account alerts
  • Processing and managing your subscription
  • Providing customer support via in-app chat
  • Diagnosing crashes and improving app performance
  • Ensuring security and preventing fraud
  • Complying with legal and regulatory obligations, including telecommunications regulations

3. Microphone and Camera

Switchboard requests access to your device's microphone and camera for the following purposes:

  • Microphone: Used for VoIP phone calls. Audio is transmitted in real time to the call recipient and is not recorded or stored by Switchboard unless voicemail is active.
  • Camera: Used to capture photos and videos for sharing in conversations. Media is uploaded to our servers only when you send it in a message.

You can revoke microphone or camera access at any time through your device's Settings.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Switchboard. Each processes data only as necessary to provide its specific function:

  • Telnyx — Telephony provider for phone calls, SMS/MMS, and phone number provisioning. Call and message data passes through Telnyx infrastructure.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — Delivers push notifications to your device. Receives your device token; does not access message content.
  • Sentry — Crash reporting and performance monitoring. Receives diagnostic data and device information; does not receive communication content.
  • RevenueCat — Subscription management. Receives a pseudonymous user identifier and purchase history; does not receive personal information or communication content.
  • Crisp — In-app customer support chat. May receive your name, email, and support conversation content when you initiate a support session.

We encourage you to review these providers' privacy policies for details on their data practices.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Beyond the third-party services listed above, we may share your information only in these limited circumstances:

  • With your explicit consent
  • To comply with legal requirements, court orders, or regulatory requests
  • To protect the rights, property, or safety of Switchboard, our users, or the public
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you would be notified)

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption of data in transit via TLS, secure server infrastructure, and regular security assessments.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law (e.g., telecommunications record-keeping requirements).

You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen in the Switchboard app. When you delete your account, all your personal data — including communication history, contacts, and account information — is permanently removed from our systems. Account deletion is processed immediately.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access and review your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Delete your account and personal data (available in-app under Settings)
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of non-essential communications
  • Revoke device permissions (microphone, camera, contacts, notifications) through your device's Settings

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@ringswitchboard.com or use the in-app support chat.

9. Cookies and Tracking

Our web application uses cookies for session management and authentication. The mobile app does not use cookies or advertising identifiers. We do not engage in cross-app tracking or targeted advertising.

10. Children's Privacy

Switchboard is a business tool designed for use by professionals. Our services are not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will promptly delete it.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information is processed and stored on servers located in the United States. If you access Switchboard from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on our website and, where appropriate, notifying you via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
